Amounts and Numbers in X12 EDI (AMT
)
AMT
segments are used to specify various amounts in an EDI transaction:
As always, the first field (a qualifier) tells us the purpose of the AMT
segment.
Amount fields can also be used as part of various other segment types.
To view your custom EDI files, go to our free EDI viewer or try Claim Insight, our product for managing healthcare claims.
X12 EDI also supports integer and floating point numbers as in the example above (the unit element)
Most of the numeric values that you see in a typical EDI transaction are codes. With our EDI/Claim Viewer a code’s description is always available in the tooltip.
